Home Products Games Safety Learning FAQs

The safety of children is important at Spangler Candy Company. We recommend teachers, parents, and other professionals who work with children use Saf-T-Pops to reward and encourage children to practice safety in every aspect of their lives. More safety topics will be added here soon...

Traffic safety incorporates a variety of areas - from the sidewalks and streets to the inside of the car. Here are some unique ways to use Saf-T-Pops to promote safety about traffic:

Use Saf-T-Pops to help children identify the meaning of traffic lights and sign colors - a green lollipop means "go", a red lollipop means "stop", and a yellow lollipop means "slow down".

Spell out important traffic safety words with Saf-T-Pops - "STOP", "GO", and "SLOW".
Ask children to put red, yellow, and green Saf-T-Pops in accurate order as they are on a traffic light. Red at the top, yellow in the middle, and green at the bottom.

For older children: Ask them to use Saf-T-Pops to create a scrabble board of safety words. Click here for examples.

Spell traffic safety-related words with Saf-T-Pops and ask children to associate the words with safety rules. For example, spell the word "BUS" and have the class recite as many bus safety rules as they can recall. Other words to spell: "CAR", "STREET", and "BIKE".

Place two Saf-T-Pops to each child's left, and one to each child's right, on the desk or table in front of them to remind them to look left, then right, then left again before crossing the street!

Parents: Use Saf-T-Pops as a reward each time your child remembers to put on his or her seatbelt in the car.
