Saf-T-Pops History

In the early 1940s, Saf-T-Pops were developed by Carl W. Spohr of Chicago and Robert F. Bracke of Arlington Heights, Illinois. Curtiss Candy Company acquired the rights to Saf-T-Pops in the late 1940s. Curtiss also created the Baby Ruth and Butterfinger candy bars. The idea of safety lollipops for toddlers with a flexible fiber loop handle was trademarked April 7, 1942. In 1978, Spangler Candy Company acquired the Saf-T-Pop trademark and machinery from Curtiss Candy Company and began production in 1979.

Saf-T-Pops come in Regular and Swirl varieties available for consumers in bags or boxes, or businesses in bulk to give away to customers in appreciation for their business.
